PUBG on low-end PCs for free: PUBG LITE goes into beta test, check minimum system requirements

If you ask people in India what comes to their mind when they hear PUBG, a majority will take out their smartphone and show the mobile game. However, PUBG started out as a PC game available on Steam and Xbox One in late 2017. The PC version is resource hungry and requires a computer with meaty specifications to play the game. On top of that, the game needs to be purchased in order to play. On Steam, you can get a copy of PUBG for Rs 999. While this is no big deal for gamers who have access to a powerful computer with dedicated gaming hardware and lots of money, it is out of reach for many who don't have access to both. Developer Bluehole identified the issue and has come up with a solution that they should have done a long while ago. Their latest product is called PUBG LITE and, as you must have got it, it is a slightly watered-down version of the original game. Bluehole has made many optimisations and gotten rid of some of the features to make it compatible with low-end PCs. This is expected to make it more accessible, thus bringing more players on-board the PUBG bandwagon. However, the best thing about PUBG LITE is that like PUBG MOBILE, it is free to play. PUBG LITE will be free to download and play for players on PC. This seems like a bargain when you consider that the game will contain the full Erangel and Miramar maps with the Third Person Perspective mode. Players will able to play as Solo or in Duo mode with another player. The Squad mode is also there where one can team up with three other players. Of course, the developers won't limit PUBG LITE to that. They have said they will continue to add all the features from the Steam version of PUBG, including the other maps and more gameplay modes. Over the course of time, more weapons and vehicles will be added as well. While the developer is staying tight-lipped over the monetization, we expect a more PUBG MOBILE approach for buying in-game items such as crates and UC. If you are excited to try out PUBG LITE on your regular laptop or desktop, you will have to wait. PUBG LITE is in Beta test and is restricted to Thailand as of now. However, one can use a VPN to try out the game. The developer has given out the minimum system requirements for PUBG LITE and by the looks of it, it will easily run on most budget laptops under Rs 30,000 with absolute ease.
